We arrived in Round Bay for our New Year celebration and a relaxing time in this protected anchorage. The holding can be a bit iffy and we got hooked on the second try, lots of coral debris on the bottom and deep holes so you have to make sure you are well set.

We dinghied over to Coral bay the second day to see the church, get groceries and have lunch at Skinny Legs. Sadly the church was closed so we got groceries and lunch before returning.

We walked around the South side of the road, and had a wonderful meeting with 12 puppies who came out to greet us. We also had a wonderful view of the anchorage.

We snorkeled the reefs here with Dee, they are quite interesting but not as alive with fish as other bays on St John, but it was still a great way to cool off and spend the afternoons.
After Round bay we moved to Salt Pond Bay which is back in the national park so we took a mooring ball again. It is a lovely bay with great snorkeling and some great walks.
We arranged to Meet s/v Barefoot Life, Stan, Lann and Susan for lunch at Miss Lucy's which is a bit of a walk around toward Coral Bay. It was a bit of a road hike but good exercise for us. We enjoyed a very nice lunch with most opting for a roti as we all loved them from other places and they did not disappoint!

We took a walk to Rams Head with Pete and Dee for a great bit of exercise and good views all around St John and Normand Island. That afternoon we cooled of with a lovely snorkel of the reef in the bay and it was teeming with fish.
As an idea here is what we saw today;

- Porcupinefish 16-20" long
- Grey Angelfish upto 12" long
- Queen Angelfish upto 10" long
- Grey Snapper 10-12" long
- Yellowtail 10-12" long
- Small Turtles 2-3' across

Our next stop was Great Lameshure Bay to join Barefooot Life and take the challenge for Dominoes. We had a great afternoon playing and eating fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, spice loaf and blonde brownies. Believe it or not Liz was victorious too :-)
After Barefoot Life departed we walked the trail with Dee to the petroglyphs which was around 3 hours there and back. A great hike and a lovely peaceful setting to have a pick-nick lunch.

Well we wanted to return to Charlotte Amalie for stocking up on Groceries, seeing friends to say hello and good bye and pick up our post. On our first night this strange ship showed up anchored behinds us?
The following morning we got a better look. It is the m/y Venus, 269' built and designed for Steve Jobs who sadly died before it's launch in 2012. So his wife now owns it and we are not sure who was aboard but some guests left by tender to the airport and they moved Venus to the Yacht Haven Grande marina the next morning.

So here we are in Charlotte Amalie for a few days before we head over to the British Virgin Islands for a while. We hope everyone is getting their New Year off to a great start.
